RARE automatic transmission and cruise control!` CIS Fuel injected 1.8 liter engine. Starts instantly and idles perfect, smooth, correct RPM's. A/C, heat works great. Leather interior (two tone blue and white/cream) w/matching door panels & white carpets. Full gauges, dashboard in very good overall condition. Rear defogger (glass window). Original lined & insulated top in great condition, fit's like new, tight as a drum, no wrinkles, no holes/rips/tears/sagging and comes with original parade boot. Nothing fits like the original top hand-fitted at Karmann in Germany. This also indicates how well this car was treated over the past 27 years, for it to still have it's original top especially in this condition. Original factory Wolfsburg Edition aluminum wheels. Car is very clean, everything works, including the original factory VW am/fm/cassette "Heidelburg IV" stereo. Power steering and power brakes. 139,000 miles. Brand new timing belt, all four motor mounts new (one was bad so I did all four), new spark plugs, new coolant & fresh oil change. New radiator hoses and new V-belts. Four new tires & both rear struts replaced last week. Car rides beautiful and suspension is still tight, supple and accurate. This car was always adult owned & operated. Newer radiator, expansion tank and water pump. Car does not leak any fluids, engine & engine compartment is clean and dry. No exhaust smoking, does not burn oil. Passed NJ emissions testing last summer. Now is registered as 'Historic' and no longer requires state inspection. Has Antique insurance as well. Runs clean. Comes with all original documentation as shown INCLUDING the window sticker & dealer brochures! Very small rust spots at bottoms of both front fenders and small area of bubbling on edge of trunk lid about 2 1/2", no dents or other body damage. Bottom of the car is very clean and in great shape.
