A vet asked us to help with Woody as his owners were sending him to the auction because he was not able to do the riding they wanted. We took him in and were able to adopt him out as lightly ridable. His adopters fell on hard times financially after a few years. Rather than do right by Woody and call us to take him back, they left him in a filthy stall and stopped coming to feed him. A couple of local neighbors tried to help care for him. We went with the local animal control staff and police and took him back. Woody was thin, needed about 100 lbs and had horrible thrush from standing in manure and urine for a couple of months. He is now recovered and looks great. Woody is lightly ridable though hasnt been ridden in a while. He is in his late teens. He does better with mares than geldings. Woody likes to crib so he needs a cribbing collar. He is easy to work around and enjoys living out if possible. He is friendly and likes people.
